Resources

We are lucky to be living through a resurgence of astrological information that has never been more accessible thanks to technology and the internet.

The flip side to this is the fact that there is SO much information out there to wade through that it can be tricky to decipher what is nonsense and what has backing by primary sources.

I’ve started to put together my list of resources for those trying to find some clarity amongst the noise. I hope to add to this as I learn more as well!

Finding your birth chart:

https://chart.chaninicholas.com - For beginners, this is the best place to lookup your birth chart. Chani’s default settings use the settings that I like to use: Whole Sign House System and no extra messy lines or symbols that can add to confusion. Other websites are great tools once you are further into your studies but require a deeper understanding of settings to provide a more readable chart.

https://www.astro-seek.com - Ready to really go down a rabbit hole? This is the spot to do it and get lost in all kinds of charts. This completely free tool also gives you the option to store charts for reference if you create an account.

Books:

You Were Born for This: Astrology for Radical Self Acceptance by Chani Nicholas - This is where I recommend people start for learning about astrology. For most people, this will cover the big things you should know and provide a strong foundation if you wish to continue your studies.

Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune by Chris Brennan - This book is more of a deep dive into the technical and historical side of Hellenistic astrology. Chris covers source texts from ancient western philosophers and astrologers. This is a good companion to most Hellenistic astrology courses.

Podcasts & Classes:

For both podcasts and classes, I highly recommend Nightlight Astrology and The Astrology Podcast/Chris Brennan’s courses. I personally listen to both regularly and have studied with Nightlight Astrology.

Other Tools:

The Chani App - This is a great place to start going deeper with astrology. The Chani App, like the book, follows Hellenistic astrology principles mixed with a modern take. Through both paid and free versions, the app provides a structure to help you observe astrology as you live it with information about current transits, year ahead forecasts, journal prompts, and guided meditations.

Kira Ryberg’s Blog - Kira is one of the leading astrologers of our time, and her website is a gold mine of astrological treasures, including articles on all kinds of Hellenistic techniques and topics. She’s got lectures and exclusive content available for purchase as well. Highly recommend!

Astro-Weather Guide - This is an amazing FREE tool that includes charts, diagrams, details, and an in-depth look at astrology to help you determine the current “astro-weather” as well as understanding a lot of the background information as to how astrology “works” via the real, observable sky. It was created by Taal, another widely respected astrologer in the community. This is a great tool for people who really want to dive in to the technical side of astrology.

*Please note that I do get a small commission for purchases made using the affiliate link to the Chani store above. I have recommended Chani’s products to clients and friends throughout my astrological journey. The only thing that has changed is that I now get a little cut for it.
